About The Garage on 25

Max, our former shop dog, RIP.

Four women gathered in the summer of 2016, and decided to create something new in Northern Henderson County, stemming from their passion and love for the arts and for the wonderful talent located in this region.  Two of the partners are natives of Tryon, N.C. and grew up together - Ellen McCown Schwab and Susan Brady.  Kaye Youngblood, the third partner, is a native of Fletcher, and taught Ellen’s children during her career at Hendersonville High. Joan Rickert, the fourth partner, started out as a very successful vendor “For the Love of Junk” and quickly became integral to the store.

The enterprise is very much a business, but also like a family business in many ways. Over the years, each of the partner’s children have helped out in building and managing the business. Everyone wears many hats: cousins, parents, kids, friends of the partners and everyone, especially the Garage’s 80+ vendors, lends a hand!

The community comes together especially well each year as The Garage chooses one local charity to sponsor. This effort has included building playhouses for Veteran’s Healing Farm, decorating apartments for Safelight, holding an art show for the Fletcher Library, donating funds to Fletcher Families in Need, and most recently, hosting an auction for Shelter Dog Transport Alliance.

The Garage has also worked extensively with Mountain Biz Works, from PPP and EIDL funding, to classes to consulting. We are extremely grateful for this resource in our community.

A love of creative reuse and vintage “finds” fueled the business engine behind our unique marketplace that is a Fletcher community hub!

The Garage on 25, located at 3461 Hendersonville Road, opened its doors officially in October of 2016. We have grown to 80 local vendors on two floors, selling everything from handmade wood furniture, upcycled home decor, handmade jewelry, vintage clothing, mid-century modern furniture and accessories, handmade children’s clothes and toys, art, architectural salvage…. and yes, the kitchen sink.

We now are the happy neighbors of All Is Well cafe, a wonderful cafe with lots of great offerings. Look for events, outdoor markets, and special sales on our Facebook and Instagram pages.
